Many people choose to leave their outdoor cushions on their furniture all summer long, and that’s great! They are designed for just that. Should you decide to store your cushions at any time, however, keep these simple guidelines in mind.
Always make sure your cushions are clean and dry before storing them!
Never store cushions wet.
Just remember: darkness + moisture + lack of air circulation = mold and mildew! And mildew is one of the few things known to man that can actually stain outdoor fabrics. It’s rare, but it can happen.
Cushion boxes are great for dining seat pads and throw pillows, but sometimes not so great for big, bulky cushions. Again, cushions must be absolutely clean and dry before storing!
Furniture covers are made of a canvas-like fabric that is water resistant and somewhat contoured to fit the furniture. They are great for keeping cushions dry in a sudden downpour and vastly cutting down on the amount of cleaning required. They can be used at any time during the year. Expecting a thunderstorm? Throw the covers on. Going on vacation? Same thing. Just be sure to secure them!
Stow your cushions in a dry, well ventilated area. Make sure they are clean and dry first!
